The Loch Ard Gorge, Port Campbell National Park, Victoria, Australia.

In 1878 a clipper ship named “The Loch Ard” close to the finish of a three-month journey from England to Melbourne ran aground on the nearby Muttonbird Island. There were fifty four passengers and crew and only two survivors, Tom Pearce, a 15 year old ship's apprentice, and Eva Carmichael, an 17 year old Irishwoman emigrating with her family. Both were washed ashore and climbed out of the Gorge.

The Loch Ard Gorge just off the Great Ocean Road not far from "The Twelve Apostles", visitors access to the beach and pathway to the eastern side of the Gorge. This stunning site somewhat shadows its history, the cemetery is a stark reminder of the people that died in 1878 on the clipper ship named “The Loch Ard”.
